XLM doesn’t have a fixed max supply since it’s inflationary. When it launched, 100 billion XLM were released, and every year, 1% gets added to the supply to account for growth.

What sets Stellar Lumens apart is its focus on transactions and payments with XLM, whereas Ripple (which isn't directly connected to Stellar) is all about building solutions for the banking sector. Stellar aims for smooth global transactions, especially in the world of peer-to-peer payments and cross-border transfers.
