Gala uses a triple-proof node system. It combines Proof-of-Work (PoW) to secure the blockchain, Proof-of-Stake (PoS) for governance and voting, and Proof-of-Storage to provide storage for games within the ecosystem.

Gala Games was founded by Eric Schiermeyer, the co-founder of Zynga, in July 2019.
