Arweave Price (AR)

AR is the native token of the Arweave network, and it’s mainly used to reward people who provide storage space for data on the blockchain. The data is backed up on each node’s local hard drive. Besides storage rewards, nodes also get a cut of transaction fees for helping process the network. AR is also a tradable crypto and acts as a global digital store of value in peer-to-peer transactions.

Arweave uses a Proof-of-Access consensus model. Before a validator can mine or add a new block, they need to provide a key showing they have access to a "recall block." This recall block is just an extra block linked to the previous one, and it’s used to verify the validator's access and help maintain the network’s security.

Arweave was founded in 2017 by Sam Williams, a British developer and tech entrepreneur. After going through the Techstars Berlin mentorship program, Arweave officially went live in June 2018.

AR has a max supply of 66,000,000 tokens. As of November 2022, around 33,394,701 of those are in active circulation.
